Troubleshooting Error Messages

Questions to ask when troubleshooting Error Messages

If you receive an error message within your Micro Key software, here are questions to ask before reporting the issue:
  • Is this a single incident?
  • Can I force replicate it?
    • If so, what are my steps?
  • Was I able to save all but the data that errored?
    • Did I have valid data?
    • Did I save recently?
  • Is this for to a single user or workstation?
  • Have I seen this before?
    • If so, has the system been updated since the previous incident?
  • Was there any networking issues or system taxing at the time of the issue?
  • What troubleshooting steps did I take to figure out why this issue may have occurred?
  • Is this related to permissions?
When reporting error messages, it is highly useful to:
  1. Screen shot of error message.
  2. Version number (Micro Key and Windows)
  3. How you are accessing Micro Key (Locally, RDP, Hosted VPN, etc.)
